Abstinence: A Form of Birth Control. ...Really!

Sexual abstinence means not having sex – any types of sex. It doesn’t mean you don’t have sexual feelings. It means you’ve decided not to act on those feelings. For our purpose, we defined abstinence as total refrain from vaginal intercourse, oral sex, and anal sex. You or your partner’s definitions may differs, but be sure to discuss them between yourselves before you commit to abstinence.

Sexual abstinence has been used for many centuries in every countries in order to prevent unwanted pregnancies. In fact, abstinence is a normal and acceptable practice used by men and women of all ages who are not yet prepared to accept the risks of sexual activity.

Did you know that among teens, abstinence is the most popular method of birth control? Among people aged 15-19, fewer than half have ever had sex. Over one in ten women of reproductive age have never had sex at all. But even if you’ve had sex before, you can choose abstinence now.
