Trouble Saving Money?
I am a part time employee and I am 18 years old. I have trouble saving money because I am new to having a job and dealing with money. It’s hard for me to save each paycheck without wanting to go run to the mall to buy that new cute shirt! It’s very tempting to buy the things you want but it is also important to learn money management. Instead of thinking about those cute shoes or nice shirts you can buy at the moment, look forward to what you can save up for such as a car, college, or even moving out! Invest in your future instead of those short term pleasures. A good way to start is opening a bank account. Start by just putting in partial amount of your pay check or whatever amount you feel comfortable with, before you know it you will begin to save up! In my experience I would put half my paycheck into my bank account and in a short amount of time I had saved up 600 bucks! This came in handy because it paid for all my senior year expenses, now I look forward to buying a car and paying for college. This makes me feel grown up and shows people that I am able to manage my money in a responsible way. I strongly encourage any young person who is starting a new job or is dealing with money that they think about their long term goals so they can just make it easier for themselves to get a head start.
