We need you! Inputs for Hackie-Sacks!

We need your help! We want your inputs! And in return, you shall receive the awesomeness that is the hackie-sack! No joke (hackie-sacks rock!). Here's the deal.

The Teen Health Advocacy Coalition (THAC) is a committee of health and human service professionals, and advocates from other organizations working to promote activities that will improve adolescent health.

Our mission? To advocate for optimal adolescent health in Sonoma county in collaboration with adolescents, parents, professionals, community members, and policy makers.

Your input? We want to know what types of images come to your mindthac when you think of THAC. And why? i.e. human heart, human brain, human organs, etc (okay, hopefully you can be a little more creative than us!) Shoot us an email at Aliciam@swhealthcenter.org with the subject title “THAC input: I want a hackie-sack” and send us your inputs! No pictures necessary. And you’ll get your hackie-sack. No joke.

Your reward? A delicious, melt-in-your-hand, look-at-me-rocking-that Hackie-Sack. For real. The hackie-sack is of ancient origin, but it was officially thaccreated as an American game in 1972. There are many things you can do with the hackie-sack: one of the most popular things is the game of footbag, where players kick the hackie-sack over a 5 ft tall net. Other things you can do with a hackie-sack? Freestyle hacky-sac, where players stand in a circle and do tricks with the Hacky Sack while passing it around the circle.

Oh yeah.

Make your friends super-jealous.

Here’s some other stuff to help you come up with the images you need when you think of what THAC represents:

THAC Goals:

  • to create an on-going forum for sharing resources, information, and strategies about adolescent health issues.
  • To facilitate training of adolescent health providers to increase their effectivieness in providing adolescent health services.
  • To promote the implementation of health education for adolescents in schools and in the community.
  • To advocate for on-going evaluation of the status of adolescent health in the community in order to identify problems and gaps in services.
  • To improve adolescent access and utilization of health services and to promote services that are appropriate and sensitive to adolescents.
  •

So? What images come to your mind that would represent THAC’s advocacy and action?Let us know and get a superfragilisticexpialidocious hackie-sack!
